Free Diabetic Awareness Camps Held in the Centre (2002-2003)
     

DIABETIC AWARENESS CAMP NO: 9 Date:24/01/02


Free blood testing started by 9.30 A.m in the premises of Sree Renga Nursing Home. Dr. K.P. Pichumani, attended a diabetic conference at Cochin, Kerala on Jan 18,19,20 conducted by a world famous diabetic center- “The steno Diabetic Centre”, Denmark. Dr. K.P. Pichumani shared his experience of attending the special diabetic Conference with his patients of Chengalpattu. He spoke on the topic of “Self Diagnosis” and advised the patients on the importance of suitable food and exercise. Monthly Magazine “Inippum Nivaranamum” was distributed to the patients.



DIABETIC AWARENESS CAMP NO: Date :24.02.2002



Nearly, 200 patients attended the camp. Free blood check up and pressure check up were done to them. Diet advice also was given to them. Dr. K.P. Pichumani & Mr. S. Anandakrishnan gave special advice to the patients on aspects of diabetes. Monthly Magazine “INIPUM NIVARANAMUM' was distributed.




DIABETIC AWARENESS CAMP :11 Date : 24.03.02

Mr. Kuppan, Municipal Chairman of chengalpattu was the Chief guest of this camp. Dr. K.P. Pichumani and Mr. S. Ananda Krishnan spoke on the aims and achievement of the center Mr. Annamalai explained to the people, how to inject using insulin pen. Monthly Magazine “INIPUM NIVARANAMUM' was distributed to all. Mr. Kuppan appreciated the Diabetic center activities in public service.


DIABETIC AWARENESS CAMP :12 Date : 28.04.02


Dr. K.P. Pichumani presided this camp, in Sree Renga Nursing Home. Rotarian, Mr. S. Stanley and Mr. S. Ananda Krishnan were the special guests. Mr. S. Stanley highly appreciated the Services rendered to diabetis by Dr. K.P. Pichumani through this center. He assured the help and support of the Chengalpattu rotary club to all the activities of Sree Renga Nursing Home. Dr. K.P. Pichumani & Mr. S. Ananda Krishnan spoke on the topic of “Hypo glyacemia” and explained what are all the immediate treatment to be given to the affected persons. Nearly 220 patients attended the camp in which “Chenna Masala” Preparation was demonstrated by the Dietician. Monthly Magazine “ Inipum Nivaranamum” was distributed to the participants.



DIABETIC AWARENESS CAMP: 13 Date : 19.05.02


More than 200 patients attended the camp. Free blood check up was done to all. Mr. S. Annamalai Proprietor of Ananda Jothi electronics was the chief guest of this day. Dr. K.P. Pichumani and Ananda Krishnan explained the patients the aims and achievements of this Centre. The change occurring in the Diabetic patients due to low sugar level was also discussed. Dr. mr. Annamalai praised the founder of the center Dr. K.P. Pichumani for his tireless services to the diabetics. Preparation of vegetable soup was demonstrated.

DIABETIC AWARENESS CAMP NO : 14 Date :23.06.2002

The camp was started under Chairmanship of Dr. K.P. Pichumani at 10.00 A.M Mr. G.D. Malani president, Marwar sangh, Chengalpattu was the chief guest of the day check up and free distribution and Mr. S. Ananda Krishnan spoke on the topic “ Insulin”. Mr. G.D. Malani in his speech advised the patients about the importance of diabetes awareness. He also praised the programmes done by the center. At the end, the monthly magazine Inippum Nivaranamum” was presented to all.

DIABETIC AWARENESS CAMP NO: 15 Date : 28.07.2002

Dr. K.P. Pichumani presided the camp. Dr. Kavitha lakshmi (Opthalmologist) gave a guest lecture. She spoke on “Eye care” Her speech on various topics involved in Eye care was explixit and the patients under stood the doctor's advice. “Mushroom food” was introduced for the first time and the same was distributed to the participants in the camp. Distribution of the magazine “Inippum Nivaranamum” and free blood check up marked this day.

DIABETIC AWARENESS CAMP NO:16 Date: 18.08.02

Dr. K.P. Pichumani presided the camp Nearly,200 patients attended. Diatician demonstrated the preparation of “Lady's finger masala”. Dr. K.P. Pichumani Spoke on the topic “Diabetic drugs”. His speech covered the following items like how the pancreas secretes insulin after getting activated by the tablets and the actions of various diabetic drug.

DIABETIC AWARENESS CAMP NO: 17 Date: 29.09.2002


Nearly 240 patients attended the camp. The Dietician demonstrated the preparation of “Bitter guard Kuttu” and the same was distributed to participants. Dr. K.P. Pichumani gave a detailed notes on the side effect of the cardiac drugs taken by diabetic patients who have associated cardiac problems. He advised that the patients should strictly follow the instruction of the doctors regarding the exercise and diet.



DIABETIC AWARENESS CAMP NO:18 Date:20.10.2002


This camp started at 10.00 A.M. under Dr. K.P. Pichumani. A cooking competition was held to mark the occasion of the forth coming “World Diabetes Day” & was presided by Dr. Anuradha Pichumani, 21 participants took part in it and 3 prizes were given. Lns. Mrs Mala SivanKumar, Mrs. Radhabai Bashyam, and Ln. Mr. Srikanth were the judges of the competition and they announced the prizes. Dr. K.P. Pichumani and Mr. S. Ananda Krishnan spoke on the importance of observing the “ World Diabetes day” and the important points to be remembered by the diabetes. More than 260 patients attended the camp.

World Diabetes Day awareness procession was organized on 9.11.2002 and it was flagged off by Mr. M. Prakasam, Deputy Superintendent of Police. Students from various schools and government arts college took part in the procession with lots of enthusiasm inspite of rain.
           
On 10.11.2002, the public of Chengalpattu witnessed a massive exhibition on diabetes, first of kind in the history of Chengalpattu. The opening function was inaugurated by Mr. Rajaram, I.A.S., District collector of Kancheepuram District. He was also the chief guest of this function. Chengalpattu Diabetic Care and Research Center organized the Diabetic awareness camp and Mega Exhibition on Diabetes, Free blood testing, Yoga & Doctors panel discussion & Interaction with patients, quiz on Diabetes and cooking competition on the same day. The chief guest lauded the efforts taken by Chengalpattu Diabetic Care and Research Center and spoke on the importance of creating awareness among the public.
           
 Dr. K.P. Pichumani & Dr. Anuradha Pichumani, founders of Chengalpattu Diabetic Care and Research Centre were very much appreciated by the chief guest for their efficiency in conducting the awareness camp in a big way. Mrs. Kalyane, W/o Mr. M. Rajaram, Collector, lighted the Kuthuvilakku before the starting of the function. Dr. K.P. Pichumani founder of Chengalpattu Diabetic Care and Research Center welcomed the chief guest and others in the dias and read out the Annual report.

             Swamiji, Virupaksha Nandha Maharaj, Secretary, Sri Ramakrishna Mission Chengalpattu, started the free blood testing camp. He witnessed the exhibition and spoke on this occasion. Mr. V. Srinivasan, General Manager, State Bank of India, Chennai declared open the exhibition. He was very much pleased by the entire activities at the camp and he stayed for the slide show on diabetes presented by diabetic counselors.

The Souvenir on the occasion of World Diabetes Day 2002 was released by Mr. Kothandam, Deputy General Manager, State Bank of India. Dr. S. Velusamy, Assistant Director of Public Health received the first copy. Vote of thanks was given by Dr. Anuradha Pichumani. About 1000 people attended this free diabetic camp on that day.

Panel Discussion on Diabetes went on very well with Dr. Anand Moses, Dr. K.P. Pichumani, and the Dietician. Patients interacted with the panel of Doctors and many Doubts were cleared. Mr. Ramakrishnan, L&T, Chennai talked on the importance of life style modifications including yoga and various aspects in the treatment of Diabetes and presented himself as a model patient.

          Felicitations were given by well wishers like Lion. Mr. M.B. Venkataperumal, Lion. Mr. Murugappa, Lion. Mr. Sankarraman Mr. Stanley (Rotary) all spoke about the world diabetes Day programme and praised the entire team which created history in chengalpattu. The world Diabetes Day 2002 ended in a good note with national Anthem.

Diabetic Awareness Camp No:20 (Date : 22.12.02)

This camp was presided by Dr. K.P. Pichumani and Mr. Annamalai, proprietor (Anandha Jothi Electronics) was the chief guest. He congratulated the doctor for having conducted the camp and for creating awareness about Diabetes. He also presented a VCD player to Chengalpattu Diabetic Care and Research Centre on this occasion. This VCD player is used to be for health education in various camps. The founder of the center, Dr. K.P. Pichumani, thanked Mr. Annamalai for his valuable presentation. The Dietician demonstrated the preparation of “Palak subji” from spinach greens. Dr. K.P. Pichumani and Mr. S. Ananda Krishnan jointly answered the questions of the patients.
