Activities of Chengalpattu Diabetic Care and Research Centre

Diabetes is prevalent not only in urban areas but also in rural areas. The rural folk do not volunteer themselves for the diagnosis for diabetes. The first and foremost aim of this centre is to create awareness among the public. To achieve this aim, CDC & RC conducts awareness camps on the last Sunday of every month in the premises itself and Narbhavi institute of diabetic care and research foundation conducts free diabetic screening camps in various rural areas. Free blood checkup and exhibition mark these camps.

	Reminders about the free camp are sent to all diabetic patients registered in the centre every month through postal services.
	Various interactive sessions are held between Diabetic consultants and patients during which patient clear their doubts and learn more about their problems.
	Various free diabetic camps are being conducted monthly in the centre and in nearby villages.
	Monthly free diabetic education programmes are being conducted in the diabetic centre with the help of - Audiovisual aids - Related lectures - Demonstration of Diabetic Diet Recipes by trained Dieticians.
	Trained dieticians are available in the centre to counsel the patients about diabetic diet, and counselors, diabetic nurses are also involved in this activity.
	Dr. K. P. Pichumani, the Director of this centre speaks on important topics on Diabetes to the public and clear their doubts.
